Today is our last class. Like everybody else I cannot believe that I have made it . I t was a big challange. Like we all know our biggest "enemy" was time It was great to work with the students in our class. They are one bunch that I will not easily forget.Being in Sandys class was a real learning experience. Although I still have a lot to learn I really got to love the the research tasks. It opened a new world for me. Although the classes end today Iwould like to go on learning. I will also apply my knowledge at school or wherever I can help. Sandy was stricked, but she was patient and helpfull. She has a way of carrying information over very well. Sometimes a bit to fastl, because she likes to see results. On the other hand it keep us alert and on our toes. The aim is to listen and pay attention. The class was challenging yet enjoyable. May God bless you.

Wikis

We were working on our wikis again. Sandy showed us how to external and internal linking . It was a little confusing,but after some practicing I could manage it.I just need to keep practicing. We were a little frustrated because our things would not fall into place,but we kept trying and we eventually found a solution for our problem. We were overjoyed. We still have a lot of work on our wiki,but we will manage to do it.I feel good about todays lecture. I am not going to give up.

holiday mood

Schools closed today. I did not feel like coming to class,because I am tired and also in a holiday mood. We worked on our wikis. We also looked for more information for our wikis. Sandy give us two new websites to look at. wetpaint.com and wikispaces.She also showed us internal linking as well as external linking. I am missing Denise today,because she is always in class.

New challenge

We created our wikis on Thursday. Sandy took us through step by step. I sometimes don`t know where she got all the pasients from because we are a very challenging group. We are working on a research project, but we are still feeling our way through our subheadings.We decided to do some research this coming week for our project.The advantage to work in a group is if one forgets the others members remember. You still need to pay attention because the members depend on one another. I like the idea of the wiki and will defnitely encourage out educaters to help their learners to create their own wikis.

older and a little wiser

I felt much better on Thursday, 9 September. I t was also my sisters birthday. Mine is 12 September. I don`t feel any older, but I know I look older. We recievd our essays and web evaluation tests today. I am pleased with my essay results. It was very hard work for me,because I had to do a lot of planning, writting and rewritting.I was no always sure.weather I chose the proper information to cover the specific topic.The web evaluation still need lots of practicing,but I am glad all the tests are over. The good news is that I have learned a lot during the past two years.We still need to work on ou wikipedia. It is difficult to find a suitable topic, but we are getting together soon then we can decide which topic is suitable.WIKI! HERE WE COME!

We wrote a web evaluation test on 2 September. I was not looking forward to the test. I always think there will not be enough time to search for answers.I feel I did not have enough time to practice to be able to find the answers quickly. The guideline to a evaluation web came to late,because I was using completely different guidelines.Because working on computers is not part of my daily work, I need much more practice before I could search for new information on the web.I am positive that I will after more practice I will be able to master the skill much better to web evaluation, following some of the questions that Sandy has asked. It is not difficult one just need to practice on a regular basis.

26 August

I was absent on 26 August. I felt down and out sick! I don`t know what was wrong. I have been to the doctor and he put me off for two days.I cannot afford to become sick now. I cannot afford to fall behind with my assignments. I need to get better and fall in again. Sandy sent me the email about the Wikis lecture. I read through it, but abviously one understand it better when you are in the class. The first two pages sound like another blog. but as one go along it sounded more like a group effort I need to hear from the other students what Wiki is all about. Today, Monday I am feeling a little better. I just wish the strike could end, because it also put a lot of stress on us.

It was a very interesting lecture. I enjoyed it because it was easy to understand. Sandy helped us to set up our web for our listerv activity which also counts 10% of our marks. I recieve mail 22 August. I am busy going through the mail to decide which discussion I was going to follow. This will not be a easy decision. I need more time before I will be able to send Sandy my answer.I recieve messages about weatherwise, Powerfull Medicine etc.

Overwhelming technology

I need to empower myself with all the new technology to be able to run a successfull school library.At present I feel overwhelming because the lectures in the class are going to fast. I feel I cant keep up. I am going to relax and keep on practicing. On 5 August our lecture was about e-books.I heard a lot about it,but I did not understand how it worked. Now I know.I like the idea that it can be read in total darkness, but I dislike the idea that you need to look after it like a baby.The learners at my school will not be able to afford e-books. I have not one learner in my class tha have their own computer at home. So the e-book will not even interest them.But like I introduced them to computers at school. I will introduced them to e-books through powerpoint like I was introduced.

late addition 29 july 2010

I am late with this addition,but like I said I am getting there. Ihope in future to be on time with all my additions. Our lecture was about WEB 2.0. for teachers and librarians.I like the idea that the web accomodate all the users to add knowledge and to have access to it. There are different websites one can use and also introduce it to the children and to our staff. I will try to check each one out by myself so that I can have a better idea as to what is the best tool to use for a certain subject. The tag cloud had me puzzled in the beginning It looked like a child created it. The biggest words on the cloud are mostly used by the users. I still need to get use to the technologies used in WEB 2.0.

I am getting there

I thought I could go on with last messasage about the stiff neck, but I struggle to open that message. Idid learn however about the types of blogs. It sounded to me as a very affective way to get a message across. To create the blog was not so bad after all . It is a lot to digest when you are doing it for the first time.But I will keep on practicing because by next year I would like my class to design their own blogs.
The first day when Sandy told us that we are not using any notebooks just the computer I felt that Iwanted to faint. Slowly BUT Surely I am getting there. I am not giving up.

new adventures

I was very excited about my new adventure at the beginning of the course,but got a big shock when I realise it was not so easy. I tried very hard to stay positive and started to enjoy the course. I became more and more positive towards technolgy.It also become easier to teach the children on the computer and the internet. I am glad that I started the course
